I can’t believe it’s not butter?

Nuttelex has heard our prayers and released a spreadable dairy-free ‘butter’ product without the use of any palm oil. And it’s too good not to share the love.

My excitement hit a peak a couple of weeks ago when I discovered Sunburst on the shelves of Woolies. The new baby of Aussie-owned and made company Nuttelex, Sunburst is the world’s first completely palm oil free table spread made from 100% plant and vegetable sources with no animal-derived ingredients and the goodness of coconut oil as the base. Sunburst is a fantastic (and healthier) alternative to …. well, everything.

Sunburst has 50% less salt and 70% less saturated fat than butter (you wouldn’t be eating that rubbish anyway, right?) and is completely dairy-free, gluten-free, cholosterol-free and GM-free. It is brilliant for cooking, baking, frying, spreading, melting, anything. Further, it is also free from nuts, corn, egg, soy and preservatives making it suitable for food allergies and restrictive diets.

Many people on the vegan front who have sourced a dairy-free alternative to butter and margarine in the past have often avoided Nuttelex because it contains a small amount of palm oil. Well avoid no more my friends. There is not a trace of palm oil to be found in Sunburst. In fact, to further Nuttelex’s commitment to Sunburst being a palm-oil free product, 5 cents from the sale of every tub is being donated to the Orangutan Foundation International Australia (OFIA). Sunburst sales will support OFIA’s Orangutan Care Centre in Borneo and their Forest Legacy Project, buying essential forest habitat back for long-term conservation of orangutans.

Theoretically, there is no reason why everyone shouldn’t be ditching the butter and margarine and getting on Sunburst. It’s a win for your health, a win for dairy cows (by not supporting the industry) and a win for the orangutans.

P.S To add more brilliance to the Sunburst case, the packaging is recyclable and paper is used as the lid insert instead of foil. Sunburst also ship in 100% recycled corrugated boxes without the use of any shrink wrap in pallet transport.IMG_8229
